Licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist

Counseling for Individuals, Couples and Families With Offices in Chapel Hill and Durham.

I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1984. I found my artistic voice in 1998. Each strongly influences the other. Each is about not clinging to notions of self. I realized in the deepest way through my art how much is possible, how life brings possibilities, how fearlessness is at the heart of artistic creation and at the heart of a life well lived.

My work with people is critical to my life as an artist and my life as an artist is critical to my work with people. Through each I have learned that everything changes, meaning that life is always about movement.

Nobel Prize winning author Elie Wiesel says, “I write in order to discover.”

Psychotherapy is the process of therapist and client searching together with curiosity and determination in this discovering.

I see psychotherapy, individual, couple, family, as the integration of ideas; the examining and challenging of belief systems that we hold as absolute truth. Psychotherapy is about becoming consciously aware of our invented belief systems. Often these belief systems exist against evidence to the contrary. Therapy is about bringing awareness and action to change what doesn’t work in our lives. At any given moment we have a choice and it is this choice that is at the core of my work with people. What I ask from clients is that they come in only with curiosity and the willingness to engage.

My practice is currently in Chapel Hill and in Durham, North Carolina. I am currently accepting a limited number of new referrals.
